GREAT DEBUT FOR MÜNTER AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY: FIELD SET BY POINTS, MÜNTER STARTS IN REAR OF 29 CAR FIELD, RACES HER WAY UP TO 18TH
North East, PA (September 1, 2006) - Leilani Münter arrived at Lake Erie Speedway for her very first laps on Friday afternoon
for her first ever start at the speedway in the Twin 35 lap late model feature events. The field was set by point standings so
Münter was forced to start in the back of the 29 car field. Münter quickly began making her moves through the field and worked her way up
to a 22nd place finish for the first 35 lap event.
"It's tough having to start in the back, but I was able to pass some cars and give us a better starting position for the second race," said Münter.
Leilani's crew chief Butch Miller made some changes to the #57 Konica Minolta Chevy prior to the start of the second event.
"I was fighting a tight condition from the center of the corner off towards the end of the first race," said Münter, "Butch is going to
change the stagger, springs, and camber to help it turn. Hopefully I will continue to work my way up the field."
Leilani started the second race in the 22nd position (field set by finishing order in first race) and worked her way up to 18th
place when her right front tire started to go down. She was still able to hold her position in 18th and finished the race with just
8 pounds of air pressure in her right front tire.
"Butch fixed the tight condition from the first race, the car turned great at the beginning of the race. But when I started
to loose air pressure in the right front the car started to push really bad, it became really difficult to drive at the end
of the race. I'm happy that I was able to hold on to finish the race. Butch and Troy did a great job of adjusting
the car and I am really happy with my debut here."
