This is a place for me to express my thoughts on racing, the environment, science, politics, and whatever else might cross my wandering mind.
It will be an overflow of random ideas, reflections, notes and quotes to be enjoyed by those of you who take the time to read it.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you down the road...
Peace,
03.12.08 paul potts, superstar
I know this is old news but this guy is too cool to leave out of my blog. Paul Potts is the mobile phone salesman that made opera cool. He nearly brought everyone to tears in his audition for Britain's Got Talent and I have his cd now. A cinderella story is something
anyone can enjoy! Go Paul!
03.05.08 ge - love the new ad, well done!

I was watching CSPAN a few weeks ago-- I am sort of embarrassed to admit that -- but nonetheless, I was watching Al Gore speak
at the World Economic Forum. Did you know that of the 2976 questions asked of the all the Presidential Candidates in 2007 only three
were about climate change? The same number of questions asked about UFOs. Yep, you heard me right-- UFOs. Wow.
If you are as much as a nerd as me and feel like watching CSPAN click here.
I already know I'm a nerd. Ok, I'm off to watch EcoTech on Discovery Channel now. Seriously though.
Happy (belated) new year everyone! Sorry I haven't checked in for so long!
I recently got back from spending a month in New Zealand and Fiji where I either had no internet access or dial up only, and after
you get used to high speed, dial up seems unbearably slow! So ever since I got home I have been really
busy answering all the emails and phonecalls I have missed over the past month. It is nice to be connected to "the grid" again but I must say it was kind of nice being unreachable for a while.
In Fiji after spending an amazing day scuba diving (I have been a certified scuba diver since 1994), I became engaged to my long time kiwi
boyfriend Craig Davidson. For those of you confused - a kiwi is another word for a New Zealander. This is us on the night we
got engaged. It is a wonderful feeling to find the person you want to grow old with. Life can be tough and it's nice to
have someone to lean on.
The scuba diving in Fiji was absolutely incredible. I took this photo (right) on the island that we stopped at between dives.
When scuba diving, you have to have a certain amount of "surface time" in between dives to give your body a chance to get rid
of excess nitrogen. So we stopped on this incredible island for lunch before our second dive. You can see more pictures in my
Fiji travel gallery. Since my kiwi vocabulary skills are up right
now I thought it might be fun to go over some kiwi slang with you, on the off chance you make it down to New Zealand someday:

I just got back from spending Thanksgiving in Minnesota (where I grew up) at my Mom's house. It's always good to return to where you came from,
to remember who you were when you walked down those streets as a kid just discovering the world. It brings you back to the basics. We ate lots of food (vegetarian stuff for me),
danced, sang, played games and had lots of laughs! I spent a lot of time playing hide and seek with my niece Heather (see photo, left). Last year I wrote
a blog about what I am thankful for, if you are interested you can read it here.
Did you know that the EPA estimates that Americans throw out 1 million more tons of waste per week during Thanksgiving and Christmas?
